It is a fact that a house that has a kid or kids will always have certain physical activities and they become careless and other events that are unexpected come about. All of these lead to the fact that that we, adults, my not always be able to predict what happens no matter how in control things seem to be. Kids have the perfect timing when they do unexpected antics.
It is the responsibility of the adult in the house to make sure that children are safe. They are the most helpless members in any family so you have to look out for them as they run around the house and explore.

Children are restless, they always have that urge to play and run around. Thus, accidents are inevitable around the house. What you can do is to make sure that your home is child friendly. First, you have to make sure that the kids are away from danger. Second, the adults can relax and have peace of mind.
You can find ways to make your house safe for kids, it depends on the overall design of your house, the materials used and of course the pieces of furniture and fixtures. Listed below are tips regarding the basic precautionary measures that you can take to child proof your house.
1. If you are using wooden flooring, check often for splinters protruding from the floor.
2. Choose tables with round corners or cover sharp corners of furniture and fixtures with padded materials.
3. Have a dry floor mop ready so that you can wipe spills right away. You can also use cloths that are absorbent but doing this can be very tedious.
4. If you have figurines, heavy or breakable objects around the house, make sure that kids can't reach them.
5. You should have duplicate keys outside every room and make sure that kids can't reach them.
6. Keep all matches and lighters out of the children's reach and all flammable materials or items should be kept in a locked area.
7. If you have fire exits, make sure all the doors are locked so that kids can't play in them.
8. Don't give children sharp or tiny objects to play with. Follow the rule that all toys must be as big as your fist and without small removable parts.
9. Use plastic ware, small spoons and fork for children.
10. Store plastic bags in a locked cabinet.
11. The electrical outlets should be out of the children's reach.
Though these tips may seem trivial, they are very effective and they are practical tips to child-proof your home. Try to follow them and you can try to find other means to make your home safer for your kids.
