People have different learning abilities. Others read so they learn. Some also learn when they are in study groups. Another are those people who listen. And last are those people who actually do all of these to maximize learning. This is what makes people unique from each other - their mental processes. This is why any medium of learning like reading or listening materials always have their advantages and disadvantages. According to psychologists, other people may not find a certain method to be effective while others view it otherwise. This is why, regarding books, there can be different views about them.
These days, people have been debtating whether an Audio book is better than a hardcopy book or the other way around. But what do these terms mean? Pros
Audio books can be in cassette tapes, CD or even DVD.
You can play them anytime you want. You have the option to do other things as you listen to it.
Once you miss something, you can always play it again.
Cons
If there are parts that you find uninteresting, you are tempted to hit fast forward.
These are very sensitive and if there are slight scratches on it, the entire file can easily be ruined.
You don't have the option to highlight important parts.
HARDCOPY BOOKS
Pros
Books are available online or in book stores in your local area.
You have the luxury to read between the lines when trying to understand the entire text.
You can note down some important quotes, lines or thoughts in the book or highlight the important parts so you can go back to them easily when you need to.
Cons
It is tiring to have to carry books around compared to handy tapes and compact discs.
If you have still don't understand the entire text, you may need to read the entire book again to be able to comprehend.
Reading can be stressful to the eyes.
Whether one prefers audio books or hard copy books, the important thing is, one learns more knowledge and insights by reading or listening to somebody's written word.
