3. Milk Products
Children require calcium to strengthen their bones. In fact the human body requires calcium to stay in good physical shape. For people who are lactose intolerant, they can get calcium from other resources such as soy products.
Use zero or low fat dairy products as an even healthier food option. A wonderful alternative for obtaining calcium and helping you slim down is yogurt.
4. Eating Fresh Meat
As you know meat is one of the primary resources of protein. The key to healthy eating and keeping your weight under control and is to consume meat in moderate portions.
Depending on your calorie intake a portion should be from 4 to 5 oz. Make sure the meat is as lean as possible. You can greatly reduce the fat by baking, broiling or grilling the meat. Choose fish as your source of lean meat protein for a healthier food choice.
5. Whole Grains
A well balanced diet to help you stay in good physical shape should include six oz. of grains. Today's whole grain cereals are much tastier than the cereals of old.
A wonderful way to get your necessary daily intake of fruit and grains is to mix them together. You add flavor and diversity to the mix. If you like to consume bread, choose whole grain bread instead of regular white bread. Once again the whole grain breads of today are much easier to eat and enjoy.
Now here is an extra tip just for you. Foods with substantial percentage of saturated fats, increased levels of sodium and trans fats should be avoided. Make it a habit to read and inspect the ingredients labels on food packaging before buying.
It is quite apparent you have many other choices when it comes to healthy food. It is also obvious that proper portion size is important to your health and your weight. Moreover, when you go the extra mile and include physical work out with your healthy food choice; you will be even healthier and keep your weight under control.
