Bill and Robin Shaw started Taste of Home Entertaining in 2006, and the company is a subsidiary of The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc. Featuring kitchen items that were developed with the help of Chef Mario Batali of book and screen, the company offers high quality products they assure everyone will love. The company is also affiliated with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and donates $1.00 from every compact disk sold to the study of diabetes in children. They were featured in their first year of business in Empowering Women magazine and are also a member of the Direct Sellers Association.

Taste Of Home Entertaining has a wide array of 250 products to offer hostesses and their guests in their collection of table settings, kitchen tools, cookbooks, magazines and tabletop decorations. With unique colors, shapes and textures, the items that are offered would make any home warm and inviting. Unfortunately, in order to view their catalog to get a good sense of what the company offers in their product line, the prospective hostess must get in touch with an established consultant. The pictures on the website do not expand enough to get a very good grasp of the items being offered. There are hostess incentives, which include free products and certificates. Monthly specials for both hostesses and guests are offered, as well as gift registry, a unique idea for a home party business.
To become a Taste Of Home Entertaining consultant, the prospective person may want to contact a current consultant first. This person will be the new consultant’s sponsor and will help them work their way into the business routine. If a sponsor cannot be found, the company will pair the new person up with someone. The coordinator retains 25 of all party sales and receives percentages on volumes made. The starter kit is $199.00 and includes items from each of the company’s categories of products. It is fully refundable if returned in good condition if the prospective coordinator decides not to continue. There is even an incentive program that will allow coordinator’s to earn car payments and new cars.
The company does offer training sessions, but based on the map on the website, they do seem to be spread across the continental United States throughout the year. There is no additional information about training on the website and anyone interested in having a party must contact a Taste Of Home Entertaining directly to find a coordinator in their area.
Without being able to see the catalog and the prices of the product the company offers (with the exception of November’s monthly specials which range from $15.00 to $20.00), it would be very difficult for a prospective consultant, or even hostess, to make an informed decision about whether or not this would be a good fit for them. It is also difficult to make a decision on the lucrative income possibilities without contacting the company for a catalog.
