Working from home as a business can have its benefits and its setbacks as well. Write down a list of positive and negatives of each and work from there. Consider the type of business you are about to open or operate.

Benefits of stopping at home:

To start off with you are not wasting working time moving to a new office, everything is already in place such as a phone line, internet and factices such as the bathroom and kitchen. You can spend more time at work as you are cutting the time on travel and public transport which may be unreliable at weekends if your business relies on Sundays.

A setback is it is far too easy to go and watch TV, wash the pots or lay in as after you do not have to move far to get up and go to work.
You could end up going out or not completing a full day working as little things keep cropping up. Especially if other distractions such as family and pets are at home and do not understand the importance of being left alone.

Benefits in renting an office:

You are setting apart home life to a working environment. You will have a lot more space that is all business related so it looks neat and tidy and easy to find. It is more professional for meetings and looks better on a business card or events as an office postcode as opposed to a home one.

You can advertise and use the walls to offer promotions ad to look professional. You can hold conference and always have more room to expand.

A set back is if the business is not going as well as planned you still have the office with all it rates and extras to pay off.
