Benefits of joining the union for Architectural Glass and Metal Technicians in Ontario

If you are currently a glazier and metal mechanic, but not yet part of a union, you are missing out on benefits that will supplement you, and your family. Being a part of the IUPAT Ontario union is being a member of a fraternity. The union is a family of likeminded workers, coming together as a collective, to strengthen the industry creating a voice and balance in the workplace. The union protects workers in the construction industry by offering:

• Job security
• Above average wages
• Standard hours
• Dental Benefits
• Life insurance
• Pension plan

As part of the IUPAT Ontario union, workers have a place in their community, and a sense of unity. Families of the IUPAT union members enjoy social activities, and workers establish lifelong friendships in the union and on the job.

Non-union workers are in many instances exploited and subjected to long hours, lower pay, little or no benefits and sometimes unpaid overtime hours. Non-union workers are vulnerable to unsafe working conditions, and in many cases are exposed to an underground economy.

A union is a practical solution toward fair wages and equality. The IUPAT Ontario union has strength in numbers, and workers joining the union can expect additional opportunities. Employers signatory to the union have an opportunity to expand their business creating a larger market share resulting to increased profits.
