What Are the Advantages of Client–Server Model?

Client-Server model is a very popular model for computer networking. It could be used on both the Internet as well as local area networks (LANs). Web browsers and Web servers, FTP clients and servers, and DNS are some of the best example of client-server model. In a client-server model, you will find a server that supervises and manages client computers which are known as workstations. Initial cost of setting up a client-server model is very high as it requires higher hardware and software, but if it is the question of flexibility, scalability and accessibility, it is the best. You can get in touch with a computer repair company for getting more assistance on this.

Let’s have a deeper view on the client and server. A server is meant to store files and databases. It includes more complex applications as well. Websites are the best example in this regard. A server should have higher-powered central processors, huge memory, and more disk drives than the clients. On the other hand, client devices are computer with network software applications installed. Desktop computers as well as mobile phones both could act as client.

If you compare a client-server network with a peer-to-peer network, the first one is always a winner. This is because with a client-server network you can easily manage the entire network and it is easier to keep back up, and protect your information against malicious objects. It is also very easy to share printers and other storage drives in a client-server model. This means, you don’t need to install printer for each computer. Instead, just install printers at the server level and share it with the clients. In a client-server network, you can manage network policies as well as can make the network far more secure as compared to a peer-to-peer network.

In a client-server network model, updates or upgrades can easily be deployed. In terms of scalability too, this is far better. More growth and replacement opportunity is available here. For instance, if you want to 200 computers in a client-server model and in a peer-to-peer setup, the task is much harder in P2P set up. In terms of data recovery, client-server network model is much better. If the workstation gets damaged in a peer-to-peer network, you cannot recover data. But on a client-server model it can easily be replaced.

From security point of view, Client–Server Model is the best. Here the computers have less chance of virus attack as it has several security options. To access any system in this network model, authentication is required. There are Firewalls, intrusion detection systems and secure channels to protect all the computers in the network from hackers and other malicious objects.

Author Resource:- To fix computer problem, consult a technical support service provider. There are many such service providers who have different support plans.
