There are various of various abilities that a security guard should certainly have.
Because one of the main jobs required of a security guard is to publish reports, he / she has to be an outstanding writer. Reports made while on the job are very essential because they record anything that goes on around the area, and may be used in court to report on the accurate activities on a certain day

The reports must be descriptive, so in addition to superior writing skills, an attention to detail is a ability that is certainly also important. An attention to detail doesn't just allow you to write better reports, but it will help you become a better guard. While you're on patrol, it's your job to notice everything. The places in your area and if they're how they are supposed to be, and also the individuals around you and just how they all look and behave. If a situation were to happen, for instance, that would require you to remember how somebody looks, if you're detailed you'll be able to easily identify exactly what that individual looked like.
To expand on that, a fantastic memory will be beneficial. There are plenty of tasks that are required of a security guard, so the greater memory you have, the easier your job will be. Additionally, you would be able to remember people and specific events that transpire while on the job, which can be useful in court if you had to testify.
An additional skill that a security guard will need to possess is rapid thinking. Oftentimes, you will only have a matter of seconds to make a choice, so in just a few seconds you'll have to weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision based on that. It can be scary at times, especially because there are scenarios that arise where threats are present, and weapons and confrontations might occur.
Finally, good communication skills are needed. The guard is the liasion between the incidents that happen someplace, and the authorities or fire department. If someone cannot communicate, the police or fire department will have trouble understanding the situation, which might place them and others in danger. Also, communication is very important because you will practically be like a customer service service-desk while on the job. Some people will come to you for help, or even to describe a situation that they consider you should take action on.
