Time - Being on time is one of the things that a boss will always look for in his employees. If your boss has set a deadline for a certain report or project, do your best so you can to submit your report or project on time.
Honesty - As the golden rule goes, honesty is the best policy. Honesty is another very important characteristic that an employee should possess in order to impress the boss. Even outside the workplace, honesty is very important. Bosses favor employees who are honest to them even if this would mean that somebody has somehow neglected his job. An honest employee will, in time, surely be able to earn the trust of his boss.
Caring - This may sound absurd, but you have read it right. This is a plus factor to win over your boss. Caring for your workmates will show your boss that you care not only for what you do but also for the other people who are contributing to the success of the company.
Credibility - Once you have given your word, whether it is a promise or not, do it. A negative impression is created on your boss if you don't have a word of honor. In one way or another, people, or your boss will look at you as someone who can't be trusted. And this is most definitely not good for your career.
Obedience - You have to be obedient if you want to make a good impression on your boss. Do as you are told as long as it is job related. Make sure that you follow instructions given to you. It is best to follow orders at all times as long as you aren't breaking any law.
To sum these all off, you should have a good character which is one-half of what makes an impressive employee. Posessing the right skills won't be enough, you should also perform well and you should have a harmonious relationship with your co workers. These are important to win your boss over.
