Among the candies that many of us love are Belgian chocolates. The chocolate's sweet, unique and creamy taste is the reason why it has become the world's favorite.
But even as chocolate seems to be a favorite treat regardless of gender, age or race, it falls victim to many misconceptions.

1. Eating chocolates can cause pimples. Fact is, the real cause of pimples, acnes and breakouts isn't actually the chocolate itself. The real culprit is the milk that is mixed with it. In fact, pure chocolates, which may taste bitter, contain high-level of antioxidants which will help make your skin look and feel better and healthier.
2. Chocolates can make you fat. Whatever food you eat, when you don't practice moderation, you will surely become fat. This is especially true to those who love eating a lot but don't exercise regularly. You are fat because you are always inactive, you are fat because of your calorie intake. Don't take it out on chocolates. Moderations is the key. An average chocolate bar contains only 220 calories.
3. When you give chocolates to kids, he becomes fidgety or restless. This belief is totally untrue as evidenced by the studies by researchers.
4. There is caffeine in chocolates. Chocolates have theobromine which is less powerful compared to caffeine. Chocolates do contain caffeine but the content is very small and is comparable to that of a cup of decaffeinated coffee.
5. Chocolates can destroy your teeth It is actually not the chocolate that can cause cavities but it is the sugar content in the chocolate. Don't take it out on chocolates, all sweets can cause cavities. So, the next time you eat a bar of chocolate, be sure to brush your teeth or use mouthwash to avoid plaque build up.
Chocolates, long ago, were connected with love potions, medicinal drinks and beauty enhancements. Only the royalty can enjoy this candy. Queens and those who are rich use these candies as part of their beauty regimen especially during bed time. The good news, however, is most, if not all, of these myths have been busted. This means that you can eat chocolates without the guilt.
Besides, it is everyone's right to enjoy whatever food they want. As long you eat chocolates in moderation, it will not cause you any harm. Pure chocolates are not factors that facilitate heart disease. In fact, chocolates can reduce cholesterol because of its high levels of cocoa butter.
