5 WAYS TO GIVE YOUR BABY BOOMER ENERGY LEVELS A NATURAL BOOST

Baby Boomers, like the rest of the population, need to conserve their energy levels.

With so much to do and accomplish within 24 hours, you try to cram your life doing as much as you can during the time you have available.

So your day may start OK, and you feel relatively refreshed after several hours sleep.

But by lunchtime, your energy levels are beginning to sag.

And then the afternoon slump hits you!

1)Restrict the amount of Sugar in your diet. We all love cakes, biscuits and pastries. But foods that contain a lot of sugar and starch cause a rush of sugar into your bloodstream.

Insulin is then produced to mop up the excess sugar in your bloodstream. Trouble is, Insulin is a bit too efficient, and can cause blood sugar levels to plunge.

Adrenal hormones then squeeze stored sugar from your liver, sending blood sugar levels back up.

So your body goes on a blood sugar roller-coaster, with ‘sugar highs’ and ‘sugar blues’.

And this makes your energy levels plummet.

So if you want to sustain your energy levels throughout your day, try to limit your sugar intake.

2)Reduce your Caffeine Intake. Caffeine can be found in popular drinks such as Coffee and Tea. Caffeine is a stimulant, so a cup of freshly brewed coffee is great for getting you started for the day. But be warned: A study printed in the American Journal of Epidemiology found that although you can jump start your energy levels with about 2 cups of coffee a day, any more than that can actually have the opposite effect.

3) Drink sufficient Water. Keeping your body hydrated throughout your day can increase your energy levels by up to 20%. Always carry a small bottle of water with you. Please do not let your body get dehydrated by waiting until you are thirsty to drink.
