Reducing the exposure to the sun is the best way to protect your skin, however, traditional tanning is done by basking in the sun's rays. However, this has been proven to be very dangerous. Today, we are fortunate because of the tanning products and solutions that are already available in the market so that we don't have to expose ourselves for hours under the sun.
Today, self tanning is one of the safest option to get that pretty tan that most women have wished for. These products have specially been made not only to give us that healthy tan but to also protect our skin from the UV rays of the sun. These products are indeed hot these days.

Although more and more people are convinced about tanning products being healthier alternatives, there are sill common beliefs about self-tanning. Some say it's dangerous while some say it's preferable than sitting under the sun. The following are four myths regarding indoor tanning:
1. Myth: These products can fry up skin when one stays under the sun for a few hours after applying this on the skin.
That's an absurd idea. Great tanning products are, in fact, equipped with UV protection ingredients so they cannot possibly cause skin color frying.
2. Myth: Tanning beds in salons can be a source of viruses causing some diseases such AIDS.
AIDS is a sexually transmitted disease and can only be transmitted by an exchange in bodily fluids. If you choose to go to a salon, pick one that is sanitary where you can get a tan.
3. Myth: Indoor tanning can cause Melanoma.
Melanoma is actually caused by excessive exposure to the suns UV rays.
4. Myth: Excessive exposure to the sun can cause skin cancer.
Many factors can cause skin cancer. The two main causes are not even related to the environment. These two culprits are diet and genetics. However, too much sun exposure can cause different skin conditions and those who stay under the sun for a prolonged period of time may get skin cancer. But a normal sun exposure cant do any damage.
Though indoor and outdoor tanning may provide same results, they have different positive and negative aspects. If you choose to use tanning products, you may get uneven tan if you are not adept to using it. If you have it done by a professional or if you get it from a salon, then you need to pay a premium. But these methods have been proven effective and of course safer compared to direct sun exposure.
There are different items used by tanning salons for example sprays, lotions and gels. These chemicals have been scrutinized by chemists and aren't approved for market distribution unless proven safe.
