When printing posters, it pays to have the right tools to make the experience more enjoyable, especially when you are dealing with a tough design process. Do you think you have the right tools? If not, then let me tell you about my seven most favourite items that makes my process of designing and printing posters a little but more fun. Try to have all these seven items when you design and print posters and everything should be fun and easy for you as well.

1. A font archive – One of the first things that you must already have before you start designing and printing custom posters is a font archive. You will definitely be dealing with fonts in your color posters. Having a ready archive of different styled fonts makes your text design process a little bit faster since you won’t need to look for and download specific font styles. You just need to pick and choose from your set font archive.

It is easy to get a great collection of fonts. There are hundreds of fonts available for free on the Internet today. All you really have to do is to take time and download all the free fonts that you can. There are even big and free font collections that should be easily available to you. Just take the time to search and you should have a ready font archive within a few minutes.

2. A graphic archive – It is also good to get a nice small graphic archive going. This can be comprised of different vector shapes, borders, backgrounds, textures and other such graphic elements. A ready collection of small customizable graphics can be a great help in polishing up and detailing custom posters. You won’t need to take the time developing your own small design elements with a ready and extensive graphic archive. You’ll just have to insert what you need and you’ll be all set. Poster design should be more fun for you.

3. A digital tablet – A digital tablet and pen is another great tool for designing custom posters. Sometimes, the computer mouse is not as accurate as it can be when you are composing your poster designs. That is why for real artists, a handy digital tablet with digital pen is ideal to create the most precise design elements possible. So if you can afford a digital tablet and pen, I recommend that you try buying one to be able to enjoy designing and printing color posters.

4. A color scheme helper – If you are having a hard time choosing the right colors and combining the right color schemes, one great tool that you should try to use is a color scheme helper. These tools basically help you choose different matching color elements based from one color choice alone. There are plenty of these color scheme helpers online. So it should be easy for you to tag one and use periodically. Trust me, developing a color scheme and a great color poster design is a breeze with these kinds of helpers.

5. A digital camera – Since we are in the digital age, it pays to have a great digital camera when you are designing color posters. Digital cameras help you acquire the great photographs that you need immediately, having it ready for a poster design within moments. So try to buy or borrow digital cameras when you are designing color posters. It should make developing new poster covers a little bit easier and faster.

6. A poster template – One great tool that you must always remember to have is a poster template. Templates area great starting off points for a poster design. They have the right document settings, layout elements and set guidelines that should help you make your poster printing a little bit faster and more accurate. There are tons of free poster templates out there, so try to get one it is really is.

7. A streamlined designing application – Finally, and perhaps most importantly, what you need for a great and enjoyable time in poster design is a streamlined designing application. If the software you are using is easy and fun to use for you, your color posters should show your creativity quite well. So make sure that you choose the right design application for you and try to train on it well. It should make all your efforts in poster design and poster printing more enjoyable.

Great! Now you know all my favourite tools for poster printing and design. Try to get all these elements together yourself and creating poster designs should be a fun experience for you.
