A handmade item takes longer to make and produce than an industrial made item as each part of the process is create with little tools and made by hand. The price of these items reflect that and that is why they have a slightly higher price tag than those made in factories, however you can see the quality and craftsmanship.
A good 20 years ago only craft stalls and a few shops had the handmade items selling well. Wood carving was very poplar and most craftsmen could personalise baby’s names on blocks of wood or make a handmade piece of furniture for a gift. Another popular handmade item was children’s toys with their names and date of birth on.
