With all the talk you hear concerning "finding a niche" you would think Niche business is a new concept, but it is not. Successful online entrepreneurs have been using Niche Marketing to fill their pockets and have not shared the process with you. Now that income can be made from selling niche business ideas everyone is talking about it. What is a "niche business"? The short description of a niche business is a business that serves a highly targeted market. More important, a niche is a business idea, and that idea revolves around quite a few fundamental points:
(1) The target market (your audience) you would like to serve.
(2) The unique selling proposition of your business.
(3) The product that your business is selling.
(4) The market in which you are selling, which will eventually determine how you structure your business as well as how you manage and advertise your business.
Having a niche can be compared to having a concise plan for your business or not having a design at all. There are quite a few ways of approaching Niche Marketing. You must first establish how fast you would like to see a profit from your business. If you want to see a fast profit you must sell what people are already buying. There is no lack of data about what people are buying on the internet. It’s up to you to detect the markets that are available to you and then build your Niche around them.
When I was first introduced to the world of internet business my mind was made up to sell attorney insurance because some friends had told me that I could make tons of money selling this service. But when I began doing my homework concerning the market I found that they were going on here-say information. I did the math and I concluded that it would take a long time--too long--to make the kind of money they told me I would make, and besides, I liked software much more. As time passed, and my success level improved in the software business, I recognize now that it would have been a terrible mistake for me to sell insurance. My advice to you is before you endeavor to build a niche business do a little investigation. It helps if you start your research without preconceptions about what you are going to sell. Don’t think of a product, but rather think of the audience you would like to target. The audience that you target will reveal what they are looking for and it is this data that will direct you to the actual establishment of your niche product.
Next identify your niche by brainstorming. This is where you sort out your ideas and your organization skills that will help you create a list of potential markets. Start by writing down your interests. You will in all probability come up with a list of possible businesses. Within this list of business is a list of keywords that you will use to find out whether a market for you potential business exist online and what the market is searching for.
Determine your profitability. A niche can be very lucrative so you will want to research your keywords again. Keyword facts will give you a snapshot of trends so you will know just how “hot” your product is.
The more keywords you have, and the more ads you're running, the more you'll notice just how time-consuming it is to wade through all of your data. This means that you've also got to monitor current bids, position and performance for each of your keywords and advertisements. In this instance it is advisable that you set up an organized system to store all of your data.
Now for the most exciting stage of the process of Niche Marketing: creating a product for your Niche Marketing. Before you start you should settle on the best format for your product. There are many possibilities which include:
- eBooks – downloadable PDF files.
- Audio – downloadable mp3s or CDs.
- Video – one of the most successful means to deliver instructional content.
- Other forms of multimedia – Streaming audio and video, flash, software.
Whichever format you choose you must be sure it is cost effective to produce, easily delivered as a digital download, accessible for the majority of potential customers, Above all watch out for compatibility issue such as PC vs Mac.
