So, what is this science to fat loss then? Well it is a simple case of maths. In order to lose two pounds of fat we must burn (or not eat) 6000 calories a week, or 860 calories a day. That might seem simple, but keep in mind you may already be eating well over the total of calories that your body needs just to sustain its present weight.
We need to first figure out just how many calories our body needs to uphold our present weight. Thanks to the internet there are lots of excellent web sites that offer BMR calculators. Do a quick search and find one that lets you put in your details as well as your activity levels. Abide by the instructions and note down your BMR calorie requirement.
Now just deduct those 860 calories from your BMR. You now have a daily goal calorie threshold. Of course you may want to lose fewer than two pounds every week, in which case you must adjust the information to suit. Don’t however, try to lose any more than two pounds a week as this can have a harmful effect on your wellbeing.
Now that you have your calorie target you can start to break it down in to meal and snack groups. Take into account the more consistently you eat the smoother your weight loss.
So you see, it is not so much a magic formula as a simple formula. Now, you have to provide the drive and determination to take the initial steps on the road to weight loss. Good luck, and keep in mind you can do it!
