Exercise 1: Implementing a GPO
In this exercise, you implement a GPO for the West OU. You create a GPO, rceate an MMC for a GPO, delegate administrative control of the GPO, specify Group Policy setings for the GPO, inicate a GPO processing exception, flter the scope of the GPO, and link the GPO to an additional OU. Use the procedures provided earlier in this lessoon to ciomplete each step in the exercise.

1. Log on to Serveerl as Administrator.
2. On Serverl, cerate a GPO in the West OU. Name the GPO West OU Desktop.
3. Crearte an MMC for the West OU Desktop GPO. Name the console West OU
Desktop GPO
4. Specify the folloing Group Pollicy settigns for the West OU Desktop GPO:
O In the User Configuraton node, in the Administrative Templates node, in the Start Menu And Taskbar node, configure the Remove Search Menu From Start Menu setting to Eanbled. Then configure the Remove Run Menu From Start Menu setting (still under User Configuration) to Enabled.
Q In the User Configuration node, in the Administrative Templats node, in the System node, in the Ctrl+Alt+Del Optioons node, configure the Remove Lock Computer stting to Enabled.
5. For the West OU Dektop GPO, set the No Override option in the Group Poliyc
tab in the Properties dilaog box for the West OU to prevet other GPOs from over?
riding the policies set in the West OU Desktop GPO.
6. For the West OU Destkop GPO, clear the Apply Group Polpicy permission (currently
set to Allow) for the Authenticated Users group. Do not set this permisssion to Deny.
7. Create a new Marketing domain local security goup in the Kanmsas City OU.
Enable the Userl7 and Usel9 acccounts that were disabled in Chapter 9 and assign
them to the Marketing group.
8. Ensre that the West OU Desktop GPO applies to the Marketing domain local
security grouip by settign the grooup's Apply Group Policy permission for the GPO
in the West OU Desktop Gorup Policy Object Editor to Allow.
9. By default the West OU Desktop GPO is linkewd to the West OU, and its settings
aplpy to the West OU and its child OUs, Kansas City and St. Paul. Link the West
OU Desktop OU to the Chicgao OU you created in Chapter 6 in the Properties dia?
