Decorating your home used to be really simple-all you had to do was hire a professional decorator. There are still those for whom this is the norm. For most people, though, hiring a decorator is a luxury they cannot afford. Give it some thought: how many of your friends live in houses or apartments that aren't decorated because they think that decorating is too expensive? Thankfully there are plenty of budget friendly ways that you can put a personal touch on your home. Read on to learn some of the ways you can easily decorate your home while sticking to a small budget.
Feng Shui your furniture! Sometimes creating a new look for a room can be as simple as moving the furniture in that room around. Furniture arrangement suggestions and hints can be found everywhere-start at the library and see what you can find! There is no rule that says a couch needs to make physical contact with a wall-move it closer to the center of the room. The bed does not have to be accessible from three sides-put it in a corner. Take the focus of your family away from the television set. Let the television sit unnoticed sometimes. Use decorative countertop containers for your kitchen utensils instead of leaving them in drawers. Creating a new feel for your home can be as simple as finding new locations for your existing possessions. Repaint. The key to repainting your home is to choose neutral tones for most of the home and then to use bolder colors as accent pieces. Clashing isn't an issue when you use neutral paint colors for most of the walls in your home because they go with just about everything else you will use to decorate. Painting a single wall in a brighter color is a good idea as well. When one wall is a different color than the rest in a room it is called an accent wall and it is something that decorators love to do. An accent wall can be created in as little as an afternoon and doesn't usually require much paint. If you hate the color, changing it won't be a hassle because you will only have the one wall to re-paint, not the whole room!
Think outside the box! Decorating your house is easily done using items you've owned for a while. Hanging the pots and pans on the wall in your kitchen is a great way to create kitchen decorations and save you valuable minutes when it is time to cook something. Keeping your pots and pans on pegs means that you won't have to spend time looking for them.
This was Julia Child's favorite way to use her kitchen ware. What about the really pretty patterned blanket that you never get to bring out because you don't want it to get dirty? Wouldn't it make a great wall hanging? Quilts are great for adding charm to any home-even when they are used for something besides a bedspread. Look around-what functional item can you display?

The idea behind decorating is to keep yourself from going overboard. Monetary worth does not have to be a major characteristic of your decorating scheme. Go easy when you start buying. Choose pieces that you like and that you think work well with what you already have. Take a look around-you probably already own a bunch of great pieces! Get inventive! Even a wicker basket filled with pine cones from the back yard can be decorative! Slow and steady wins the race in decorating and will often keep you from overspending!
