The surgery is used wherever the bones are not prone to heal in a manner which would permit ordinary activity after the injury has healed. Surgery can often be used to re align the bones to their original alignment if possible or the next best option and then permit the normal healing process to take place. Next level of progression is surgery which involves insertion of plates and screws. Inserting plates are carried out in cases when the bones would not have healed properly but for the new alignment can be kept in place for at least 6 weeks.
Heel surgeries a result of heel spur
This is the heel surgery necessary to be carried out stemming from heel spur type injury. In this instance the surgery is corrective type surgery caused by condition such as heel spur or plantar fascia. The point of the surgery is to reduce the pressure on the heel bone. Surgery will try to stretch the plantar fascia tissues by cutting the painful area and releasing the tissues to some extent. Shaving of the bone will take place in the case of heel spur.
Heel surgery due to degenerative sort disease
When degenerative sort disease exists such as cancer then surgery can be undertaken with aim to stop spread of cancer into other parts of the body.
Recovery from heel surgery will be approx. 6 weeks depending on the severity of the original injury. Common cause of action will be the utilization of anti biotic to prevent an infection due to surgery. Pain relief will be typically required. Starting point in pain relief is generally use of paracetamol tablets such as panadol and upgraded where required to prescription kind medication, which are stronger measures. Where pain is intense morphine may be used. Anti inflammatory medication can be taken to diminish inflammation.
