Mother’s Day: Taking Advantage of the Occasion to Market your Business

Mothers. They are the hardest working people today. They are our chef, teacher, personal shopper, counselor, confidant, best friend, protector, and above all our strength. They work hard in keeping the family together while working in between jobs. There’s no denying a mother’s work is the hardest job of all.

So, there’s no excuse to forget their special day each year. You forget their day and you are in for some trouble. The worst that can happen is: your mother tells you it is okay. She understands that you’re busy and you can always make it up to her. Right! Like that will make everything alright and keep you from getting the cold shoulder in the next months.

Mother’s day is a truly special day for mothers. And for business, too. This occasion presents a great opportunity for businesses to promote their products or services. If you run a flower shop, a spa center, a salon, or any other business, this is one of the best times to get in touch with customers.

Essentially, promoting a business is not only about telling people how good your products or services are. It is also about telling them how they would benefit from the products or services. It’s about telling them how something beneficial would be valuable to them. This is important to every business, especially on Mother’s Day when the best means to success is getting remembered. This is why it is important to create effective marketing campaigns. If done correctly, a poster, business card, or postcard printing can easily help people remember you.

One of the most effective ways to promote your business on Mother’s Day is through a direct mail campaign. You can do these in several ways such as:

• A simple flyer. Mailing out flyers is a straightforward and cost effective approach to promoting products or services especially designed for moms.

• A greeting card. Perhaps the simplest and most straightforward material you can use is a greeting card. People love sending and receiving cards. So, why not take advantage of this opportunity and create greeting cards that your customers can actually give to your mothers. There are several ways you can do this by combining promotion and personal greeting in your card. For instance, your card can read, “It’s your special day. Expect a bouquet of special flowers today only from Ward’s Flower Shop.” Sending cards like these encourage your customers to actually buy flowers from you. The use of your greeting card will be dependent on your products. Surely a good way to promote and get purchases as the same time.

• A postcard. Sending your own customized postcard is a great way to remind people that Mother’s Day is fast approaching. Even if you don’t offer items designed for mothers and even if you send out cheap postcard printing, you still offer a valuable service to your customers and somehow keep them reminded of your business without looking to pushy.

• A post-Mother’s Day campaign. It’s not surprising that some people simply forget Mother’s Day. So, help them clear away their guilt by suggesting ways to make up for the trouble through your direct mail campaign. Consider sending them flyers or greeting cards that read, “If you missed Mother’s Day today, why not make it up to her by taking her to a special dinner.”

Whatever you write in your postcards or greeting cards, make sure that you convey the right message to your customers and especially to mothers. Remember that moms do a lot of hard work, so let them feel you haven’t forgotten them.
