A lot of people are affected by the symptoms caused by IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome. If you are not familiar with it, this kind of condition is characterized by abdominal pain or discomfort. This can come in the form of cramping, bloating, diarrhea, gas, and constipation. Studies prove that it is not a disease but instead, it is a functional disorder. In this case the bowel does not function the way it’s supposed to be, thereby causing all the symptoms. If you are experiencing these kinds of symptoms, then you probably have IBS. It is best then that you take note of the following tips regarding changing your diet, so that you will be able to return back the normal functioning of your stools and the parts of your system that is involved with it. You should follow an IBS diet that will help you manage its symptoms.
Before we dig deeper into the kind of diet change you need to undergo, always remember that stress is also a major factor in triggering Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In other words, it would also greatly help if you find ways to relax. Reducing your stress level would enable you to manage the symptoms of IBS effectively. Always keep in mind as well that such symptoms of IBS are not an indication of a major disease. In some cases, people knowing about this fact would be so relieved, that they have observed reduction in the occurrences of the symptoms just because of it.
With regard to your IBS diet, take note of the kinds of foods that would cause it, although it has been noted by experts that each person would have different trigger foods that can cause IBS symptoms. In most cases though, the kinds of foods that would cause or worsen such a syndrome are those that are high in fats. Examples would include milk and dairy products and deep fried foods. You should also avoid chocolates, alcohol, caffeine, yogurt and cheese. Since these are the usual foods that trigger the syndrome, it is best that you avoid them for the time being. Once you have gained control of the symptoms though, if you do not want any kind of possibility for them to recur, then you should continue to avoid the same kinds of foods.
If you want to be able to pinpoint which kinds of foods trigger IBS, then you should monitor your diet closely. You can keep a log of every food that you eat. Take note when you eat it, the symptoms you have experienced after ingesting it, and take note of the foods that make you experience the symptoms every time you eat it. Take your daily note to a physician so that he can help you in narrowing down which foods you need to avoid.

On the other side of the coin, there are also types of foods that would provide you a favorable effect whenever you have IBS. To make it easier for you, focus on eating foods that are high in fiber. Fiber will make your stool soft, bulky and easier to pass; thereby, reducing constipation.
The kinds of foods you want to eat for your IBS diet would include bran, cereals, beans, vegetables, and fruits. These are the kinds of foods you should eat since they are high in dietary fiber. Change your diet soon, but do not forget the importance in visiting your physician whenever you experience IBS symptoms.
