All of us, most likely, would like to get a tan. Regardless of the race, we all love that tanned look. Many see this tanned look as healthy and some see it as a look of beauty. Whatever it is, the most important thing is for us to be safe and do all the necessary precautions so that we remain safe while we get a tan. Getting it with a traditional method like going under the sun can harm your skin since you are exposing yourself to direct sunlight. This is very dangerous and can cause cancer.

There are, however, practical safety measures when tanning so we can truly enjoy a day out in the beach. We start with a good sunscreen product which blocks both UVA and UVB. Some sunscreens protect you only against UVA but since the sun also emits UVB rays, it is best to have sunscreen that protects against both.

For children and those with sensitive skin, choose sunscreen which is waterproof and has formulations for sensitive skin. For those with allergies, use sunscreen with PABA or titanium dioxide. Look for the Sun Protection Factor (SPF ) number of the sunscreen product. The number will reveal the length of time people can be exposed to the sun, after applying on the product without getting a sunburn.

The SPF number that you need depends on your skin type. For children 6 months and above, SPF 15 is needed and an SPF of 20-30 is ideal for those who have very fair skin. SPF 12-20 is ideal for those who have moderately fair skinned. Put a liberal amount to your sin and apply it regularly. Though you are protected, don't expose yourself under the sun around 10AM to 4PM because these are the times where in the suns rays are the most powerful.

When you get a tan, always use sunglasses so that your eyes can be protected. This is extremely crucial especially when you plan to take a bath right after. Don't put any product on your skin except your sunscreen because other products have adverse reactions when exposed to the sun. The heat is sure to evaporate a significant amount of moisture on your skin and you'll need to replenish those lose fluids.

Author Resource:- If you think traditional tanning is too inconvenient and unsafe for you, you can always resort to an airbrush tan solution to give you that instant glow on your skin. Airbrush tanning prices are very affordable and can be easily smoothed into you budget.
