Improving Effective Communication

The word communication originates from the Latin word "cum" that suggests that "with" and it is combined with the word "unus" that suggests that "one". The mix of these two words leads to the word "communio" that is translated as "communion" in the English language. Communion will be defined as togetherness and the verb "communicare" has been derived that suggests that sharing one thing with somebody and this word became "communicatio" which is best referred to as communication.
Varieties of communication
There are plenty of types of communication relying on the target:
1. Verbal, written, and electronic communication;

3. Formal and informal communication;
4. Intrapersonal communication or communication at intervals oneself;
5. Interpersonal communication or communication between 2 persons;
6. Small-cluster communication;
7. Mass- communication.
Function of communication
The following will be seen as the functions of communication:
1. Communication in the non-public lives of people consisting of expressing of feelings, opinions, thoughts, perspective, behavior, emotions, desires, ambitions, and wants.
2. Interpersonal communication to understand each other, to become friends, to debate problems, to exchange thoughts (concepts), to make plans, to induce and offer facilitate, to mutually help each other amendment attitudes and behavior.
3. Workplace communication is necessary for obtaining together with every other at work, produce synergy with co-workers, provide and receive directions, and to beat variations, tensions, and conflicts.
4. Societal communication is necessary to unite the folks, overcome societal problems, create societal progress, and produce welfare for everyone.
The essential operate of communication is to create constructive relationships between persons. In other words, communication has become the foremost powerful tool to create any relationship between persons. Through communication we have a tendency to will apprehend others and we can become known by others. Communicating interprets into disclosing our thoughts, feelings, concepts, and wants to others so that our existence is thought to others.
Effective communication
Effective communication has become the perfect of all folks who attempt to communicate with each other. Communication can become effective when the subsequent 3 conditions have been met:
1. The message is received and understood exactly as meant by the sender;
2. The message has been approved by the receiver and followed-up by actions desired by the sender;
3. There are not any obstacles to try and do no matter has to be done to follow-up on the message sent.
But, effective communication will be obstructed by interpersonal obstacles (perception, standing, defensiveness, negativity, assumptions, language, poor listening skills, and wrong surroundings) and organizational obstacles (hierarchy. managerial authority, and specialization).
Improving effective communication
1. As a sender: use the proper language, empathize, improve perception, use the correct communication channels, readiness to convey and receive positive and negative feedback;
2. As a receiver: listening with empathy, avoiding prejudgments, asking the right questions, giving constructive feedback, thinking creatively, and remaining open however critical.
