What Lawn Cutter Must I Purchase?

If you’re fortunate enough to have a lawn, then eventually you are going to need to get it cut. The easy decision is to pay for someone else to do it on your behalf! There are a lot of good lawn maintenance and gardening firms around. On the other hand, if you do not have the finances for this or else you take pleasure in cutting the lawn (it could be very therapeutic) then you will need to purchase a lawn mower. But which one would you purchase? There are actually a bewildering array of brands, sizes, models and different prices within the market.

You need to ask yourself a number of questions to make certain you pick the right one. Clearly, your budget is usually a key problem, but think about the size of the lawn, what you utilize it for and what type of grass you will have on it. I do know of at least one specific business who promote thier gardening services who have a variety of lawn mowers and spend time once they turn up at your premises determining which mower is best for the task in front of them.

The Size and Shape of Your Lawn
Those rich individuals with large, regular lawns have alternative needs from them people with small, uneven shaped ones. So, for example, if you have loads of lawn to cut with few obstacles like flower beds or trees, then a sit on lawn mower is ideal. These are expensive, rather large and bulky, also you may need someplace to keep it, of course. But They are tremendous for cutting large areas of grass and for impressing the neighbours! The good brands are Honda, Hayter, Lawn King, Mountfield, Yardman, Snapper, Toro and Lawnflite. For smaller areas with trees and curved borders, a small, light, manoeuvrable mower ought to be your first choice. Anything too powerful or bulky will tire you out quickly.

Should I Pick an Electric or Petrol Powered Lawn Mower?

The selection between electric and petrol powered mowers comes down to the idiosyncrasies of the garden. If you don’t have any easy access to electricity, or you have tough weeds and need power, or else you do not want to run an extended cable for instance, then a petrol mower must be your first choice. They are generally more potent than electric mowers, but they need regular maintenance - much like a car - and bear in mind, they might be heavy and bulky. They might also require some strength to start up because many of them have a pull cord to start the ignition.

For small spaces, an electrical mower will almost certainly be your first choice. They are normally cheaper than petrol mowers, easy to keep and smaller so they store easily. And there's even rechargeable electric mowers in case you do not have access to power.

Should I Buy a Hover Mower, Rotary or Cylinder Mower?

Hover mowers are great for small, uneven areas with dissimilar types of grass. Consider areas with lots of trees or flower beds with curved boundaries and tight spaces. They may cut evenly but you won’t obtain the stripes or rollered effect in the lawn that you have cut. Flymo and Allen produce the top hover mowers. For the perfect finish a cylinder mower is best. And if you are able to afford it, pay for one which has a roller attached to the rear. A superior quality cylinder mower will give the cleanest, best looking cut of all and with the roller attached will give you that Wimbledon lawn finish. Gorgeous. Good brands of cylinder petrol mower: Qualcast, Atco, Lawnflight and Masport.

Rotary mowers fit pretty much in between the two. Ideal for larger lawns which might be somewhat uneven or slightly overgrown. Possibly a little too much to deal with for a hover mower. However, they will not provide you with the perfect bowling green finish.

Good brands of rotary mowers: McCulloch, IBEA, Honda, Lawn King, Lawnflite, Lawnpro, Mitox, Tuffcut and Victa.

What to do With The Lawn Clippings.

Some gardeners advise that when you don’t have too may trimmings, they ought to be left on the lawn as nutrients for your grass. I don’t subscribe to this method, however. If your lawn needs feeding, look at buying some lawn feed products. Lawn trimmings make the lawn look a disaster and can also inhibit light reaching the fresh growing grass, which leads to discolouration and damage.

So unless you like raking up trimmings, choose a lawn mower that has a collection box. After that, all you have to do is empty it when it becomes full. Much less strenuous! Generally, with lawn mowing, you receive out what you place in. So, pay for the best mower that you can afford, whichever type of mower you decide on. Good luck with your lawn!
