{It's common knowledge that babies are fun and cute. They wear sweet and funny looking outfits. When else in life can a person get away with wearing a sweater emblazoned with a clown without being teased? Most people think that being a baby is pretty easy. They think that babies come out of the womb as fully formed humans but without the ability to express themselves properly. Babies are actually quite complex creatures who have very specific needs. Here are some facts about babies that might be new to you.|Children develop at an astronomical rate. In almost no time at all a baby goes from a ball of rapidly dividing cells to the beginnings of a human being with rudimentary lungs, a brain and a pumping heart. That tiny ball of cells only needs forty weeks to grow and form a human being capable of living on its own. Not too long after that they begin forming personalities and even making their own decisions. You might think you already know quite a bit about babies because you know how often they need someone to change their diapers, how quickly they learn to move on their own and how rapidly they pick up speech. Read on to learn something new about babies and young kids.|Most people understand that babies eat a lot, sleep a lot and go through a lot of diapers. Do you understand how a baby moves? Do you understand how babies develop? Many adults do not take the time to learn exactly how their children mature. Other parents decide to learn everything they can about the way their child grows and develops as it gets older.
{Did you know that babies are born with three hundred bones in their bodies? There are only two hundred and six bones in an adult's body. This makes it sound like the bones disappear but the truth is that many of the bones that are separate at birth fuse together into larger bones as children grow up. Many believe that this is one of the main reasons that a baby is so much more flexible physically as an adult-because the bones are able to move independently of one another in infancy. Think about it: how often are you able to eat your own feet as a grown up?|Usually, by the time a woman realizes that she has missed her period; her fetus's heart is already working. The heart forms and begins beating around three weeks after conception takes place. Most women take until this time to realize that they missed a period and are growing a baby. If there was ever a marvel about babies it would be that it only takes three weeks for biology to take a couple of individual cells, join them together and form rudimentary organs that start to fully function. Think about everything that your heart does and how strong it needs to be and then marvel at how quickly you made its foundation while you were in the womb.|Did you know that babies are not good at perceiving the differences in colors very well? It takes a while after being born for a baby's eyes to finish developing and for the synapses from the eyes to the brain to be fully formed. This is one of the reasons why babies respond better to primary colors whey they are used in a room or on toys. You should focus the color scheme for your baby on bright reds and blues and greens or even on black and white. Pastels are better for adult eyes.

Believe it or not, this is why a baby will sometimes favor certain toys. Pastels are meant more for an adult's sense of cuteness while the black and white things that are so often turned down are actually better for your son or daughter's development.|The skull of a baby is still in independent plates at the time of birth. The lack of a solid skull is what makes it so scary for so many adults to hold babies right after they are born! If you are not careful when you are handling your baby's head, you could accidentally do quite a bit of damage so tread lightly and carefully when you hold your newborn! You will be glad to know that the soft spot stops being so sensitive and soft within a few months. It can take as long as a year and a half for the frontal plates of your baby's skull to harden, so don't assume that the worst is over when the soft spot calcifies together.|Even while a baby is in the womb he or she is sensitive to light. There are millions of fibers and nerves that make up your eyes. The coordination needed for the eyes to function properly is extraordinary. Babies' eyes are already useful by a few months after conception takes place. By the time your baby has spent six months growing in your womb, he or she will already be sensitive to light. A great piece of eye trivia: your baby's eyes might change color a few months after she is born-Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes and it takes a few months for the eyes to change to their permanent color. Babies born with blue eyes often do not keep that eye color. So don't let yourself get too attached to the blue color. Your baby might have different colored eyes before too long!} {Most people already accept that babies are able to hear sounds even before they are born. Doctors have proven that babies can hear and react to the sounds that they hear-sometimes very strongly! It does not matter when the baby is born, his ears are still very sensitive to high decibel levels of sound while he is in the womb. A fetus's ears are impressionable and sensitive. Your doctor will probably tell you that a good gauge for what is too loud is your vacuum cleaner: if your television or music is louder than the vacuum then that music or television show needs its volume turned down! You will soon learn that even your vacuum cleaner might be too loud for your baby so keep the noise level to a minimum and try to avoid heavy traffic or construction when you leave the house as it can be too loud as well.|
Did you know that some babies are born with teeth? Other babies don't start getting their teeth in until well after their first birthdays.
Most parents dread the teething process. Don't worry too much about when your child's first teeth will start to appear. There is no guarantee when it comes to childhood development even in a family with lots of kids-your baby will grow at the pace that nature has intended for him and him alone.
There are so many things about babies that are not well known-you will never get bored learning about child development. It is common knowledge just how quickly an infant develops. Do you know exactly how development occurs? Do you know all of the neat things that happen between conception and adulthood? Learning about babies never gets boring, just look at the interesting things you know now that you did not know a little while ago.
