She expanded the property with additional purchases over time. In her 40's, Beatrix married William Heelis, a local solicitor. Beatrix past away on the twenty second of December, 1943, and donated almost all of her home and property to the National Trust. Her books continue to sell well across the world, in multiple languages. Her stories have been retold in various formats such as a ballet, movies, as well as in animation.
