Even you can learn how to be a great organic gardener.

Even if you've never before grown your own garden, if you put in some time and effort, you too can figure out how to grow wonderful organic gardens.

Tomato plants are the most popular fruit plant for beginning organic gardeners. Tomato plants are relatively easy to plant and take care of. You can grow tomato plants everywhere. You can grow tomatoes in almost every single type of garden. These plants are so hardy you can plant them in a container and they'll still grow. They don't require a whole lot of care. These plants are particularly rewarding for beginning growers because they can eat the tomatoes once they are ripe! That cliché about "eating the fruits of your labor" are true when you have tomoato plants in your garden.

Many gardeners use mulch as a way to keep pests at bay while also increasing the nutrient content of their garden soils. Weeds do not grow well in mulch. Mulch is a great way to keep your garden healthy and cut down on your maintenance workload. In fact, mulch is great for a lot of reasons.

It is great for controlling the soil temperature in your garden while also keeping the soil moist for a very long time, even in dry conditions. One of the main reasons for mulch's popularity is its cost: it is far more cost effective than other types of fertilizers. Mulch works just as well as the many alternatives out there but it is the most cost effective.

Bees are important! You might not like the idea of having to deal with bees, but they are fantastic helpers for gardeners. They can spread the pollen from your plants around and help your garden thrive. Pollen is incredibly important for the survival and success of your plants. What this means is that you simply need to get used to the idea of dealing with bees. In fact, it is a good idea to encourage bees to explore your garden!

A garden's most irritating pests are going to be snails and slugs. Don't let your squeamishness over these creatures keep you from gardening. There are at least two or three methods you can use to cut down on the creatures but the fact of the matter is that they love gardens and are great at hiding amongst garden plants. You'll just have to remove them one by one-get used to the idea now.

Running copper wire along the length of your garden plot and putting jars full of beer in strategic locations are a couple of the folksy ways people try to get rid of snails and slugs. Some gardeners try special foods and traps that are meant specifically for these creatures but most of these gardeners eventually realize that they will just have to learn to deal with the pests up close and personally.

The best way to deal with pests who eat your plants is to introduce ladybugs loose in your garden. The ladybugs won't damage your garden because they eat the other pests what would have done that. Pest control bugs like ladybugs are great for gardens. They are far more environmentally friendly. You won't eat them by accident. They also keep your garden pest free!

Composting is a great way to keep your garden healthy. Composting is easy to do at home because it doesn't require any fancy equipment.

Starting your own compost pile is simple. It can be made from all sorts of stuff that you already have in your house: food scraps (plant based of course), tea bags, old egg shells, dead flowers, old flower cuttings, clippings from when you mow the lawn and even bedding from pet cages can be used in a compost pile. Don't toss any leftover meat scraps and the compost pile will flourish! By the time you are done you'll have a giant pile of home made fertilizer that you can use on your plants!

You'll be happy to know that all you need is a good gardening mentor (or a few articles to act as a mentor) and growing your first organic garden won't seem so hard anymore. In fact, if you are diligent and work hard, you'll be growing your own successful organic garden in no time!
