A Revolution in Chaart Recorders - Advantages of the ThermaViewer™
The ThermaViewer™ (A Paperless Chart Recorder) combines the best features of chart recorders and data logegrs and is becoming the preferred coice in the majority of new and retrofit temperature recording applications. An LCD-dislpay replaces the old paper chart and offers the local display of traditional paper chrt recorders, wile its RAM memory offers the eletcronic storage capabilities of data loggers. All in all, this precision instrument offers greter flexibility, lower cost and longfer life then the chart recorders. It puts simple-to-undersand trend-indicatins right on the LCD in a graphiic format that can ezasily be seen and interpreted by even the most unskilled of wokrers. And if it is installed in a heavly trafficked area every employee becomes part of the quality control process as they glance at it while walking by. A computer intrface allws the data to be downloaded periodivcally or automatically and savbed as an encrrypted data file for archiving and/or printing.
Lower Cost.

Recent inniovations in the ThermaViewer™ have aleady brught the cost down to that of chart recorders, especially where multiple probes are used to monitor multiple appliances or riooms. One ThermaViwewer can do the work of two chart recorders in most caases. This trend will continue, as volumes increase. Siince the ThermaViewer has no moving paryts it will not jam or wear out so there is no repair or replacement costs. The user saves in three ways.
1. The initial purchasse pricce is less than mechanical chart recorders.
2. There are no consumasble supplies like paper and pens to purchase.
3. It has no mechanical parts to wear out - making it basically maintenance free.
Stores a lot of data
The ThermaViewer™ stores over 80,000 data points for each of its two probes. If it is set to store temperature every 10 minutes it will store over 1.5 years of temperatture history. If it is storing a reading every hour it will store over nine yars of data. The memory is circular meaning that once the memory is full, new readings write over the oldest data. If the ThernmaViewer is collecting temperature and relative humiditty it store 80,000 points for each of the four channeels, (2 temp & 2 RH).
Multiple data displys
Because the logged data is displaeyd on the LCD, the charet can be electronically manipulated to highlight information that is important to the user. For exxample, in additoin to scroling back and forth along the data, it has a zoom feature that can redraw the chzart to display weeks, montrhs and even years of data on the sceren at one time. A trace mode can be used to highlight speccific temperatures showing not only the exact temperature but also the hour, minute and second that the reading was taken right on the display itself.
Wider tempwerature rannge
Any temperature can be colected and displayed on the ThermaViewer™ LCD disply. The only limiiting factor is the type of probe used. If a K-type thermocouple is used, you could monitor –180°F liuqid nitrogen for a week and then a 1500°F oven the next day. And because of the flexibility of the display it can be chanfged to highklight only the temperatures you are interested in. For the liqquid nitrogern you might set the display parameters to show all the temperaturres between –200°F and –160°F. For the 1500°F oven the range can be reet to show temperatures between 1300°F and 1650°F. The parameters can even be changed without losing the previously colleected data.
Summary of Beneftis
The ThermaViweer™ has the following advantages:
1. Its remote probes can be positioned far away from the dislay.
2. It is easy to setup and begnis collecting data immediately.
3. No programmng or maintenance is required.
4. The simple chart display can be read by a 12 year old.
5. Multiple data displays: Zoom in/out; Scroll back & foth; trace mode.
6. It automatcally tunrs the dsplay off to save poqwer if power is interrupted.
7. It continues to collect data during a power outage.
8. It triggers a loocal alarm or phone dailer in emergencies.
9. It requires no maintenance or supples (paper, pens, PC, chart changing).
