Lanzarote is the idlest place where you can simulate life on the moon. The surreal and stunning landscapes in Lanzarote attract nearly 900,000 tourists to this small island every year. Lanzarote is one of the seven islands of the Canaries. It is part of the province of Las Palmas, and is divided into seven municipalities which are Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías, Tinajo and Yaiza. In fact, it is the fourth largest island in terms of the size located to the most east of the Canaries in the Atlantic Ocean.
Geology
The island is a volcano origin. It was born out of volcano eruption. The most recent eruption happed in the year of 1824. It is believed that this island together with other Canary Islands is attributable to the breakup of the African and the American continental plates.

Climate
Lanzarote is always called ‘Islands of Eternal Spring’ which is because of its mild and dry climate. People
The majority of the population on the island is Spanish which account for 73.9%. other relatively large group are mainly British, Germans and Irish.

Timanfaya national park is the most renowned and the most visited place on this island which includes landscapes of valuable ecological importance. It would be quite interesting to see the park wardens pour cold water into bore holes and the water is then expelled just in seconds.

Two large pillars of the island’s economy are tourism and agriculture.

The airport serves the island is named Arrecife Airport which is located 5 km (3.1 mi) southwest of Arrecife. The construction of this airport is due to the need of connection between Lanzarote and the mainland Spain. On the other hand, it serves as a refuel point. Later, with the increasing need for tourism, the airport has experienced several expansions.
