In summer, the average temperature is 24ºC while in winter it is around 11ºC. Throughout the whole year, the island enjoys more than 300 days sunshine and as long as 11 hours of sunshine from July to September. The pleasant weather makes Menorca an excellent tourism destination all the year round, but some wise tourists would like to avoid the peak time and choose to come when the island is in a lower-key atmosphere.
The rainfall mainly happens in winter whereas in summers the rainfall could be none.
Besides, Menorca is the wettest and the coolest of the Balearic Islands since it is further north and further out to sea than the other islands.
The island is affected by the well-known “tramuntana”, a prevailing northerly wind that cools the climate especially in the winter and brings the city a nickname ‘windy island’.
What to see on the island
The island is known for its collection of megalithic stone monuments, namely navetes, taules and talaiots, which speak of a very early prehistoric human activity.
The naveta, meaning small ship, can be date back to the Bronze Age. It is a megalithic chamber tomb made up of medium-sized stones, which is unique to the Balearic island of Minorca. It was built with the cyclopean technique. However, for safety reason, it is not allowed to go inside to have a look or climb on a naveta; The Taula is a T-shaped stone momument; the Talaiots are the Bronze Age megaliths on the islands, the purpose of which might be for defense.

Menorca Airport, also called Mahón Airport is the airport serving the island of Menorca. It is located 4.5 km southwest of Mahón which is a municipality and the capital city of the Balearic Island of Minorca. With 48 airlines operating in the airport, Menorca Airport mainly serves four countries which are Spain, Ireland, Britain and Amsterdam.
