Considered to be one of the most loved drink by both men and women, wine has never failed to surprise us. Wine completes any kind of special occasion like weddings, engagement parties, anniversaries, birthdays and many more. But wine is not just all about the good times, good tastes, and inviting aromas. Wine has a lot of health benefits especially when it comes to preventing heart ailments and the French can prove that. In fact, all over the world, France has the least number of people getting sick or dying because of heart related diseases and this is because of wine.
Wine, however, does not only provide cardiovascular benefits. There are actually many studies linking this beverage to various other health conditions which may well be prevented by having a regular glass of wine. Among these benefits are the following:

• A glass of wine for women and 2 glasses for men daily can reduce the risk of heart attack by upto 50%. Many studies have proven this fact that indeed, wine can protect our heart. One study also shows that persons who have suffered from heart attack before may lower the risk of having a heart attack again by drinking red wine or any other alcoholic beverage in right amount. Another study conducted by experts also shows that drinking red wine raises the HDL cholesterol level, which is good cholesterol, and lowers the LDL cholesterol level, which is bad cholesterol. Blood vessel damage due to fat deposits which can also be prevented because red wine helps prevent blood from clotting.
• Drinking wine regularly can also help our bones become stronger. Because wine has alcohol content, the level of estrogen and other hormones in our body is increased which can help make our bones stronger.
• Wine can also prevent other coronary heart disease and most of all, cancer. Wines contain a chemical called flavonoids which are believed to function as an antioxidants by preventing bad molecules, also known as free-radicals, from damaging cells. In recent studies, a special kind of flavanoid known as oligomeric procyanidin which is found in wine can prevent and stop the hardening of our arteries.
These are just a few of the health rewards that a person can get from drinking the right quantities of wine on a regular basis. But one must remember to drink wine in moderation because drinking in excessive amount can be harmful to our liver.
