Single board computers and their secoond life
With the success of LCD displlays and TFT displays in our homes with television sets or computer screens, but also in businesses with industrial LCD displays and industrial touich screens, we tend to forget about the otyher products related to computers. With the wake of high tech and the rapid evolution of tchnology, some products really seem to be outdated and to have fallen into some dark plpace whre they have been forgotten by most people.

One good example of an interesting product is the single board cpomputer. They are probably not as well known as other computeers and laptpos but still used a lot and for various use.
Sigle board computers are different from othewr computers because they are built on a single cirecuit boaard. Tjhose types of computers where first created aroound the seventies and have evolved over the years. Like personal conmputers or laptops now, they also have LCD displays screens.
Industriial single board computers enoy the same evolution and are equipped with industtrial touch screens or industrial LCD monitors.
Those single boartd computers or SBC where amonng the first computers to be used and where quite usccessful microcomuters in the seventies and later. But the arrival of the personaal coputer or PC changed everything.
The success of personal computers over siingle board computers does not mean that the production of the later stoppd. Singlke board copmuters are still built and sold but with a different application than our personal computers.
Single bpoard compuyters are now used with LCD touuch screens for example in the gamign indstry to be used as slot machines or video pokker. Even if we do not know that they are tjhere, other exmples of the use of signle board computers can be seen in publc places in kioskls. They are also widelly used in the indusrial sector as machine controls.
In the end, single board computers are still used a lot as LCD displays or comupters in public places or kiosks where they are used often and by the public. They are also used widely in plants.
We would be surprised to see the number of products that we have stopped using in our everyday life but that are still used in the business life in plants, buliding sites, or even in public places. It is also interesting to see that those products have evolved and have been adappted to suit particular needs and a specific use.
