Everyone has at one time or another experienced the feeling that overcomes us when we go to the computer store or electronics store and buy the latest and greatest personal computer or even worse the latest and greatest flat screen television and just as we are driving home from the store all excited about ripping open the box and setting up our new pc or lcd tv we drive by a billboard or see some kind of advertising stating that an even newer and better version of what we just bought has come out. Ouch! Well the home security system industry is no different. Every year new and exciting features and new models are upgraded from the previous systems. With the transition our world is making into the digital age, home security is already starting to get integrated to keep up with this new technology. Experts in the industry agree that within the next five years, alarm communication to a central station through a traditional hardwired landline will become obsolete.

With the advancement of high speed internet, alarm system manufacturers are designing ways for central station monitoring to take advantage of the incredible high speeds that dsl can create. If you have ever sent an email to someone while speaking to them on the phone, you knoiw that it is practically an instantaneous transition. That is the type of speed we will be able to take advantage of for transmitting alarm signals to the central station. Just imagine that a burglar tries to break into your home and instantly upon alarm activation the central station has already received the signal and is already contacting you and the proper authorities. Literally when seconds count you can count on your ADT monitored security system to notify you instantly .

One of the up and coming features that will soon be available to new and existing ADT customers is what Honeywell calls Total Connect. Total Connect does exactly what its name states. It is a way for you to be anywhere in the world and be able to have complete access remotely to your home security system. Total Connect has also the ability to send you an email for any event you wish. If it is important to you to know everytime someone turns you alarm on or off, then that can be configured. If you just want to receive an email only when an actual burglar of fire alarm occurs then that can be your unique configuration. Total connect lets you intertact with your home security system from anywhere there is an internet connection. If you have a smart phone or a Blackberry phone you can log into your system and control every feature just as if you were right at home. You can also use a personal computer or an I Pad to log in and control everything.

If you want to have a greater degree of security at home , with Total Connect you can even integrate CCTV cameras into the system. If you receive an email stating that an actual alarm has occurred at your location. All you would need to do is log into the Total Connect site and immediately you can view the CCTV cameras in order to determine if the alarm activation is an actual break in or just someone in your home setting off the alarm by mistake. If you are out on the street you can use your smart phone to access the CCTV cameras as well. This kind of total security control creates a much greater sense of security for homeowners.

With the advancement of digital devices and the advancement of home electronics comes a greater degree of personal security. The home burglar alarm industry is committed to keeping up with the latest technology and making it accessible and practice al to every homeowner.
