It's a fact that having enough sleep is important for all of us since it affects all our bodily functions. This means that the lack of sleep can lead abnormal bodily functions and we can't perform our daily tasks. And if we continuously lack sleep, problems may arise later on. Examples of the problems that we might face are:
1. Studies have proved that students who had adequate sleep before an examination day will get higher marks than those who crammed the night before, thus, they lacked sleep.

2. Lack of sleep can also result to weight gain since this can affect the body's metabolic processes. Our bodies tend to work more when we have more waking hours. In addition our hormonal levels can also be changed. This changes in our hormones make us think that we need to eat more, thus, causing to weight gain.
3. If we don't get enough sleep, we are prone to accidents since we can't think straight because we feel sleepy the entire day. Because of this, those who are working will have poor performance because of being sleepy. This, as well, can cause driving accidents because we might fall asleep while driving. Though most of us really try our hardest to stay focused while driving, the truth is, we just can't control it once our brain is too tired and our body shuts down. It is when we are awake that they work more than when we are sleeping, so we also need to slow down for a few hours in a day.
4. When we did not get enough sleep, the tendency is for us to get very irritable and we become impatient. In return, these may make you feel too tired to do the things you're supposed to do.
5. Not getting enough sleep can change our hormonal levels and because of this, we get stressed easily. In addition, stress is linked to causes of many illnesses, including cardiovascular diseases. If we are forcing our body to work even if it's too tired to do so, we are only putting our health at risk. When our bodily processes are not in harmony, we easily get burnt out and stressed.
6. Diseases - Lack of sleep is one of the causes of cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension, irregular heartbeat, and rising levels of stress hormones. Immunodeficiency diseases have been linked to lack of sleep because our immune system gets altered if we continuously lack sleep.
So if you want to avoid these problems, make sure that you get enough sleep. You need to get at least 6 hours a day of sleep. It would help to wear something that you can be comfortable in so that your sleep will be continuous, undisturbed and peaceful.
