Depressed Scar Treatment

If you think back to awkward times in your life, there are probably none more awkward than puberty. Along with newfound attitudes and discrimination practiced by your peers, your body is changing and you’re not sure how to keep up. Worse yet, there are clear signs on your face that you’re not quite in sync with your body. Acne is caused by a combination of hormones, stress, and skin type, and is usually especially prevalent during puberty. But what might be worse than the embarrassing effects of acne as a teenager or young adult is the fact that it often leaves scars that not only remind you of the insecurities of those days, but can also prolong the emotionally damaging effects of acne.

This is why so many have turned to depressed scar treatment to cure the traumatic scars left behind in the wake of a bout of acne—well, at least the physical scars. These types of scars usually leave what look like impressions or holes in your facial skin, as after acne clears the supporting layer of elasticity underneath the skin is eliminated. These holes can look like small craters and can be quite frustrating to deal with.

Many people try to eliminate these scars by undergoing costly scar-removal surgeries. While these often cost thousands of dollars and can be quite painful, they aren’t guaranteed to work. There are also many facial treatments that can help to reduce the appearance of scars, from microdermabrasion to chemical peels and laser treatments. These are slightly less expensive, but also relatively costly and painful as well. Another consideration of these skin treatments is that they require many follow up visits and patients must take many precautions as far as skin exposure during the day after their treatments.

A more simple option for depressed scar treatment is silicone patches, like InvisiScar®. These patches are a good alternative to creams and gels, which are somewhat effective in promoting skin softness and elasticity, but are messy and inconvenient to use. Not many people can apply creams to their face several times throughout the day without causing a public distraction and using them while sleeping is simply not an option. In addition, creams and oils have not been proven to reduce scars, only to encourage new skin growth.

However, silicone patches contain all the healing power of these creams and gels, but with great ease of use. In addition, the consistent skin temperature created by the prolonged application of these patches promotes optimal skin cell movement and speeds up healing time.
Many people using these patches have experienced improvement in skin discoloration as well as reduction of surface bumps and depressions. While silicone sheeting is often used to heal larger scars, they come in a variety of sizes, so they can easily be used for facial scars. They can be used on any skin type as well.

Whether you are looking for depressed scar treatment but don’t want to opt for risky or costly surgeries and facial treatments, or you’ve tried these more extreme treatments to disappointing results, silicone patches can quickly and easily heal your scars. With a little consistency and patience, you’ll be on your way to that clear skin you always envied as a teenager-- better late than never!
