It is a fact that grass is a very essential part of a natural landscape. Due to its number of species and easy-to-grow process, entrepreneurs and scientists have developed a way to make more out of the usual uses of this plant. In the beginning, grass was used for landscaping purposes. Because of technological advancements, grass have become so much more than just a plant. These days, we can make brooms, roof and many more out of grass. With this success, growing grass has become very popular.
Only a few of the type of grass has helped us in our day to day activities especially that it has become an industry. Grass has many uses but some of the uses are not yet known to us. Below are the three basic uses of grass: The first use is for food. Corn, rice, and other starchy foods we have are actually grass. We consume them every day without knowing that we are eating grass specially cultured for human consumption. Sugarcane is one more example. This is processed and converted into sugar. Thus, grasses aren't only for farm animals. We, people, also do. We now understand that growing grass is important because this is a basic ingredient in making different types of food that we eat daily.

Grass is commonly used in gardens and for lawns. With the many variations of grass available, landscapers use the kind that grows depending on the environment, the type of soil, and most especially those that would make landscapes more attractive. Growing grass of this kind is simple because this type grows instantly. There are special grasses like the marsh grass which can make a tropical effect in the garden.
Grasses are also used to produce brooms, decorations, textile and others. Today, people are making money out of it. Grasses can help our environment. It prevents soil erosion or, at least, minimizes its effects. This is how helpful and useful grass is. Though they look simple, but their contributions are significant especially to our daily lives.
Just as different varieties of corn and tomatoes perform differently and have different characteristics, so it is with grass seed. All grass seed is not created equal. Not only are there many different species or kinds of turfgrass available for use in home lawns, each species has literally hundreds and hundreds of different individual varieties. Each variety has been bred or selected for different characteristics – primarily in the never-ending search to find the toughest, greenest, most bug- and disease-resistant types for golf courses and athletic fields.
