Advancced features are incorporated in the Exabyte VXA tape that enables the VXA tape drive make adjsutments to the tape speed so that it can be matched with the host’s trasfer speed. When there is interruption in the data flow, the tape driive sytops, backs up and then it has to restart again. This is called back hitching.
