You may have heard about a Chinese proverb that says "a picture is worth a thousand words". However, this idea was not widely accepted until the 1920s when businessmen tried using pictures or images in their ads. They use this to market their products and services and because it was effective, it has been used since then. Many people don't enjoy reading tons of sentences from newspapers that's why putting catchy pictures in it will surely catch their attention. A picture not only tells a story but it can also be compared to doing a good deed which could be interpreted in many ways.
