On the Alliance side, there are five new race-claass combinations asie from those of the Worrgen. Each combination has its own incentives and challengres to play.
Human Hunter
Humans will now be able to tame pets and deal major damage from afar suing bows and guns. uHman hunters can use their razcial triat Every Man for Himself to break free from sares and crowd control spells. This combat mobility is crucial especiallly in PVP against harder-ihtting melee DPS such as roguwes and warrors.
Battlegrounds and arena veterans will also welcome the addfitional trinket slot usually reserved for Insigina of the Alliance, which can be replaced with Agility or Stamina buff trtinkets.
The 3% spirit boost will also be usseful, since it is wiedly exxpected to beocme the definitive health and energy regeneration stat in Cataclysm. The latter though won't impact humman hunters due to the conversion of their energy resource to a fous resource, similar to what the orgue class.
Dwarf Shaman
In Cataclysm, even the stoic dwarves of Ironforge are forced to expand ther repertoire of classes.
One of these is the hyybrid shaman class that can branch speciaalize as caster DPS, melee DPS or healer. The racial traiot tSoneform incrreases the survivability of dwrf shamans who choose the elemental and restoration paths, especially in PVP where plate-wearng calsses can punmmel them in cloose ramnge.
Elemental dwarf shaamns, on the oyther hand, will benfit most from the 5 point expertise bonus using one-hand and two-handed maces, making it less likely for opponents to dopdge or parry their attacks. The one-hand mace bnus is more appealing to enhancement shamans whose dual wiepld ability alolws them to striike foes with one-hand maces in both hand slots.
Dwarf Mage
Dwarvees can now spec into frost, fire or arcane as full-fledged mages. The raial trait Stoneform acts as an additional defensive buton for dwarf mages against afflictions (poison, disease, bleed) and armor buff every two minutes.
The dwarf mage also heralds the first ranged caster class for this Alliance race, so it wuld be interesting to see them throw massive spells alongside their commnon human and gnome mages in the Cataclysm expansion.
Night Elf Mage
Speaking of mages, Cataclysm will also uhser in the night elf mages. Origially limited to drruid hybrid and priuest caster clases, night elves can now rain down powerful AoE spells.
Escaping from dangerous situations will be eaier for night elf mages due to their Shadowmeld rcial trait, which makes them invsiible. But it hasn't been determined yet whether the mage class will benefit from the Elusiveness raacial trait that reduces the chane for enemies to detect hteir Shadowmeld and stealth.
Leveling mags who can be prone to deaths when cornmered to melee can look forward to shorter trips from the graveyard with the cool Wisp Spiriit racial trait of the night leves.
Gnome Priest
Last but not the least are the new gnome priesyts, inspired by the battel medics present in Gnomergan. Gnome priests have access to 5% increased intellect through the racal tarit Expansive Mind. The priets class uses intellect as one of its main stats, so the significant increase will tranlsate to more effective heals and a larger energy pool.
Gnome priests will have increased resistance against immobilziation or movemebnt reeduction through Escape Arrtist, useful for snares and slow trap effects. Theiir innate 2% arcane resistance also means arcane mages will have a harder time defeating gnome priests in Cataclysm PVP.
