We all know the importance of search engine optimization and its impact over the visibility factor of your website. Doing perfect SEO also requires certain rules to be followed otherwise results would not be in the form we wanted. You must have come across many articles stating “what are the right things to be done for effective SEO”, let’s see which mistakes should be avoided by the SEO experts:
- Improper usage of the title tag. Many times title tag is used in wrong form or even ignored completely. It is basically the browser tag that is seen inside your website. These tags are used by the search engines to decode the importance of a website. Therefore it is compulsory to have a small title tag that has primary keywords in it expelling the use of general term in it. Your company’s name can also be included in the end of the title, but remember to include keywords. Relevance of the keywords that you place near the beginning of the title is calculated by the search engines.

- Improper utilization of keywords or lack of it. There are many websites that believe that putting in most sought after keywords in their meta tags and content would prduce more traffic, but if the keywords is not related to your company’s business it would be of no use and would only waste the resources. Instead of that concentrate on the main keywords of your business topic, use them in moderation don’t go overboard in using them. Use the keywords in required number, you can use keyword research tools to determine the right ones.
- Do not use Black hat SEO methods. At any cost do not use this technique for getting the topmost search engine ranking. Some SEO companies use this tactics to push their customers’ site’s ranking up. At any cost avoid spamming, doorway pages, invisible text, cloaking, etc which are some ways of doing black hat SEO. In doorway pages, fake pages are being developed filling it with keywords and descriptions. These pages are only seen by search engine spiders and not the regular internet user.
- You often hear of companies advertising a fixed price to submit your site to hundreds of directories. Beware of SEO companies who promise top ten ranking in search engines. No company can practically guarantee top ten ranking with fixed price as search engines are very dynamic and constantly changing their algorithms and criteria to decode rankings of every website. SEO service providers who promise this, use black hat SEO techniques. Remember you need not submit your website to all the search engines out there present on World Wide Web, submitting to top ten ones is enough.
Keep your website away from such malpractices and use only white hat SEO techniques. It may take time to list your website on top rankings, but it would create good impression of yours online and would avoid chances of getting banned by search engines for using unethical SEO techniques.
