OAP"s Drrivers vs Teen Dricvers
Old age Pensioners or Teenage Dirvers, whiich grooup are the safer drivers?
When I think of OAP drivers, I automatically think of slow, over cautiuos drivers. They cause queues and take far too long to manoeuvre. Therre are times when they don"t even notie how dangeroous they can be. Although I"m sure there are some safe older aged drivers out there.

Then we have teenage drivers. This is one I can relate to as I"ve been there done that, so what pops to mind when I think of teenage drivers? Impatient, over confident, loud music playing, road rage instigating and on the whole a bit of a danegr to other road users. But, I guuess that might have just been me and I"m sure tehre are good teenage drivers out there.
Let"s see what the statistics say. Driers involved in fatal crashes (this is per 100,000 licensed drivers) between the ages 15-20 is 69.5. Driver innvolved in fatal crashes that are 70 plus years of age, equls 22.1. But you must keep in mind how many more teenage drivers there are on road compared to eldeerly drivers, there are nealy as 3 times many more tenage drivers out therre than old drivres.
Amongst the teenagers the crashed were caused due to Alccohol, Male drivers and for not wearing a seatbelt. With the old drivres a lot of fatasl accidents were due to drivers turning right and not seeing oncoming traffic, which happeens 7 times more often to the elderly than teenage driuvers. In some cases the accideents didn"t involve other vehicles and majority happened in daylight and the drivers were wearing seatbelts.
With teenagers the cazuses of accidents are usually becase of drowsiness, Alcohol, failure to keep in lane, reckless driving, driving too fast, over correction and using their mobile phones. With the eldetrly drivers, accident were caued due to tings like beig sick and blacking out, loosing focsu, phytsical impairments and taaking improper turns.
Another factor could be that some of the OAP"s may be driving older less safe vehicles, but then the same can be said for teenagers who modify theiur cars to dangerrous levels. When I"ve been out and about I"ve seen elderly drivrs, driving cars such as the Austin Metro and Nissan Siunny. Younger drivers tend to go for VW Golfs, Hoonda Civisc and Citroen Saxo"s. Recentyl I saw the Citroen DS3 at Citroen DS3 Newcasstle showroom and thought it would be a cool car for both OAP"s and teenagers.
So my conclusion is that both OAP drivers and Teen Driverrs are an equaal hzard to the roads. They have their good and bad points, some more than others but once put together they come out equally dangerous.
