In our pop culture, that kind of gift should get a girl to say yes – Well, most of the time.
And for that ring to make her say ‘Yes!’, there’s Tiffany & Co.
Tiffany & Co. is a well-known jeweler situated in lower Manhattan, New York. This store was first known to specialize in crafting its own collection of jewelries. Exclusive jewelry designers such as Paloma Picasso, the youngest daughter of the great abstract painter Pablo Picasso, Elsa Peretti, Frank Gehri and Jean Schlumberger have been tapped to design the jeweler firm’s primary collections.
Today, aside from crafting exclusive jewelry lines, Tiffany’s is also now producing clothing and functional accessories, such as time pieces, cuff links and even scarves, key chains and fashionable name tags for dogs. In 2008, mobile phone creator SoftBank has commissioned Tiffany’s to allow the earlier to produce 10 models of mobile phones under the jewelling firm’s distribution. The said phones are made up of 400 diamonds, with the gem’s weight reaching over 20 karats.
Aside from being mentioned several times in movies, films and music, Tiffany’s is also now being known as the staple brand of big people in giving gifts. Kim Kardashian, Maria Sharapova, Paris Hilton and Jennifer Love-Hewitt are only among the few known to have graced big events wearing the jewelling company’s collection pieces.
However, aside from the global recession in 2009, Tiffany & Co. was compelled to close down some of its associate franchises, including its exclusive line of pearl pieces. Over the years, Tiffany’s was always in a close competition with its fellow jewelling companies, such as Cartier as its most stiff competitor over its gemmed time pieces and DeBeers over its diamond-embedded collections.
At present, as the company is already being able to recover itself, jewelries and fashion accessories are not the only items being quickly sold by the Tiffany’s – their stocks are now being a popular target of investors from the stock market. This trend has appeared after the firm has revealed its geographical sales mix in 2009, with proper consideration and monitoring to both the company and the economy’s current performance, stock brokers have found Tiffany’s stocks as promising units in the market.
