Many homeowners have an artificial turf lawn, but this product first became famous when it started popping up in stadiums where contact sports such as football were played. Since those days there have been many improvements made to artificial grass turf products both for commercial use and for the home. The obvious benefits are the easy maintenance, reduced water usage and attractive appearance year round. For contact sports teams, however, there are many other unique advantages to using synthetic turf.

Many sports teams have chosen artificial turf lawn products for their stadiums because these synthetic lawns are specifically designed to withstand athletic performance for many years, holding up under even the roughest plays, and all without ever making a mess of dirt. Another important benefit to synthetic turf is that the material is made to protect players; a layer of particles between the synthetic blades cushions athletes to prevent injuries. Many experts have attributed decreases in injuries to synthetic turf, especially in football, where a lot of traction is necessary. Decreases in ACL injuries, ligament tears and muscle tears have all been attributed to this artificial grass.

Running a sports team is expensive, and artificial grass turf helps sports teams to save some money as well. The stadium will be much cheaper to maintain during football season when there is fake grass instead of the real thing, because artificial turf just needs to be aerated, brushed and swept before games – no daily watering and mowing is required. Most stadiums even have draining systems that get rid of any rain, sweat or other moisture that comes in contact with the field.

Artificial turf is attractive, cost effective, durable, easy to maintain and safe. Not only is it highly beneficial for contact sports players – it’s also an excellent option for your home. So whether you’re a sports team owner with a stadium to fill or a homeowner with a lawn, it’s worth your time to consider this product.
