According to the scientists who conducted studies on basil, the herbal plant is abundant in many nutrients. Among these are vitamin C, calcium, vitamin A and phosphorus. It also contains minerals, such as magnesium, potassium and iron.

Because of the content of vitamin A, the plant is good for eyesight, skin and hair. Among the carotenoids, a type of phytochemicals, beta carotene is one that can be found in the basil plant, and which is converted to vitamin A in the body. Beta carotene is a powerful antioxidant.

Antioxidants are helpful in fighting cell damage caused by free radicals in the body. The free radicals occur naturally in the body, however, if their number becomes uncontrollable, serious illness such as cancer may surge.

Scientists claimed that to counter the ill effects of free radicals, it is best to eat foods that are abundant in antioxidant like beta carotene. Growing basil plants has become a hobby of most people.

It does not require skills in order to grow the basil plant. All you need to know is the basic information such as the type of soil used, and other elements of life like sunlight and water.

You can even cultivate a basil plant in your yard. Even if you do not have a yard, you can put them pots. Not only does it make your residence insect-free. It can also make your health whole, and appetite full.
