In such a sunny location, it is curious why so few San Diegans consider the option of switching to solar energy. San Diego solar activity is above many other areas in the country, but is still far from reaching its potential. Many overlook this option because of its high start-up cost, but once the advantages are taken into account, it is impossible to deny that solar energy is a competitive fuel alternative.
The most obvious and most notorious benefits of solar energy are environmental. By switching to solar energy, households can reduce their carbon footprints by an enormous amount. While fossil fuels and other common resources release pollutants and greenhouse gases into the air, solar panels rely on the sun and nothing else. Thus, they do not contribute to global warming. And because they only rely on the sun, the energy they produce is renewable and long-lasting, and it does not require any kind of storage facilities (aside from the solar panels themselves).

Though it is a bit pricey initially, after it has been in long-term use, it is much more affordable than the most common power sources. It is completely self-sustainable. Energy bills can be lowered up to 70% or even eliminated altogether, and they are less likely to be affected by fluctuating energy prices. Government agencies offer refunds and tax write-offs to households who choose solar energy. Houses that remain solar powered will also have higher market values. Some have even been reported to produce excess energy and sell it to power companies, making solar energy a profitable investment.
Solar-powered households may also enjoy a more comfortable lifestyle. They do not have to deal with irritating white noise from their main power sources. Also, because they no longer rely on a power company, they are not subject to citywide blackouts or increased energy costs. So, why is it that so few San Diegans are taking advantage of this? Those who can afford the start-up fee have no reason not to call a San Diego solar installer and start benefitting today.
