Jewish weddings in Toronto are performed in open space under a chuppah. The chuppah is a shelter used in Jewish weddings. It is made of a sheet stretched over four poles and symbolizes the home a couple will build. Traditional Jewish weddings have many rituals that signify the purpose of a marriage. A Jewish groom is referred to as the chatan and the bride is known as kallah. In Jewish weddings, the chatan and kallah are viewed as the king and queen respectively.
