To assure long term protection and regulatory compliance, WORM technology has been incorporated in SDX-D700C/BM external drive. WORM technique is supported by Sony SDX3-100W, AIT3 tape. Part number of re-writable AIT3 cartridge is SDX3-100C. Data backed up on a WORM tape cartridge can’t be over-written or altered. Storage capacity of Sony AIT-3 tape is 100GB / 260GB.
Sony continues to focus on the needs and demand of its customers. That’s why Sony has introduced the backup compatibility feature in SDX-D700C/BM tape drive. The customers can use all the three AIT tapes including AIT-1, AIT 2 and AIT-3 with SDX-D700C/BM tape drive. You can store data and also extract the previously recorded data from all these AIT tapes. Sony AIT-3 tapes are built tough to support high density recordings and provide long term protection. Tape reel of AIT3 Sony cartridge is composed of pure cobalt that contributes to its superior resistance against tape friction, humidity and debris. Strong base film of AIT-3 tape helps to strengthen the output signals during heavy duty cycles, and provide exceptional durability up to 30,000 tape passes. Architecture of SDX-D700C/BM drive’s head has been re-designed to extend its durable life up to 50,000 hours.
Sony has devised a new carbon coating that protects the tape surface from dust and pollutants. Strength of this AIT tape’s carbon coating is almost 20 times greater than the conventional metal oxide tapes. New carbon coating maximizes the robustness of tape medium and boosts its performance level. Sony AIT-3 cartridge is one third the size of competing backup tapes of equivalent storage capacity. Sony AIT3 is indeed more intelligent, durable, efficient and longer lasting.
