However, administrators have not always given adequate attention to one means that, for centuries, serving the community lagoon. It is an original system of transport, environmental and immune to the passage of time, so dear to the casual visitor, whether a worker or a tourist, as the inhabitant: the gondola. Besides offering a pleasant sightseeing, as romantic as costly to the lagoon channels, the traditional Venetian boat is still a real means of transport. In particular, the gondola is fast and represent an economical alternative to the noisy boats of the company ACTV transport. Another gondola advantage is that it obviates the four bridges over the Grand Canal (Scalzi, Rialto, Constitution and Accademia in Venice)
Wider than the ordinary gondola and without decorations, the gondola for transfer is governed by two gondoliers, and can contain up to 14 people sitting or standing. Price for single journey is very convenient, considering that the same service offered by the ACTV boats, costs two euros and that the accommodation Venice is expensive. A transfer gondola costs just fifty cents for every passenger, one euro if carrying a large bag.
Besides being a really good transport system, the gondola is a choice for those who do not want to give up a quick and economic experience, but intense, traditional lagoon boats. Although the journey lasting just a few minutes, passengers can enjoy a wonderful view of Venetian historical buildings and enjoy the unusual sensation of sitting a few inches of water.
It should be noted that this service is not a recent invention, indeed. In a city like Venice, where water has always been the preferred means of communication. Already in ancient times the Venetians who could not afford the property of a gondola staff possessed by public transport. For this reason, the ports on the gondolas, called stationed in Venetian dialect, were scattered not only along the Grand Canal, but throughout the city. But today, with the introduction of motor boats, the service is restricted to cover up are some routes, namely: Fontego by Turks in San Marcuola Fish from Hagia Sophia, from Riva del Vin in Riva del Carbon, from San Toma Ca 'Labourers, Ca' Rezzonico San Samuele, the Health in Santa Maria del Giglio y Punta della Dogana San Marco Vallaresso. The service runs daily from 8 am to 7 pm. If you would like more information, please contact your hotel in Venice.
