The widely known Wii has had a good run, however its future's not looking so good any longer as a consequence of Microsoft's brand-new piece of equipment, Kinect. Nintendo's once innovative entertainment system is actually now looking very aged.
When the Wii arrived it was revolutionary and took the console gaming society by storm. It delivered video games to the wider public thanks to its control which mimics the player's actions and actually enabled just about anybody to experience computer games. Even quite aged individuals who had never played a video game before in their entire lives were suddenly in a position to grab a controller and play tennis or even golf etc.
In lots of ways it would seem that the Nintendo wii has paved the way for Kinect. The Nintendo wii brought video games to a much larger market and it appears like Kinect will take over that same market.

Kinect is an add-on to the Xbox 360 which rests on top of your own Television similar to the Wii sensing unit that also is positioned on top of the TV. The difference is that Kinect truly scans one's body motion which means that you don't even need to have a control in your hands.
The Nintendo wii appealed to so many due to its simple controls, however the Kinect does not have any controls whatsoever so the appeal is going to be even higher! In addition, it offers voice identification meaning you are able to issue instructions just with your voice. Couple that with the fact that it uses the Xbox 360 console components which is perfect for producing HD images that's light years beyond what the Wii is actually capable of!
For the foreseeable future, it looks as though Kinect is going to take over from the Wii. It'll be interesting to find out what Sony and also Nintendo will come up with next!
