Many people do not know that events like seminars and conventions are actually able to offer rich marketing potentials for your real estate business. But they are often left untouched until the next seminar.

The benefits of involving yourself in seminars are plentiful, more than just learning new things. You probably have participated in many different seminars and already know that these events provide many opportunities to widen your connections and build up existing ones. In order to increase the advantages you get from attending seminars, making an effort to build up a network, not just normal friends but also of potential clients, is a definite must.

When interacting with new people you meet at a function, how would you be able to contact them in the future? Through word of mouth isn't the way if you are going to interact with hundreds of people, there is just not enough time! Now this is where name cards come into play, it can be passed around with relative ease and contact info is on that small sheet of card. When someone requests for your card, it shows that you have the potential that makes others want to maintain contact with you.

However, giving out your card out to everyone you meet might have an adverse effect. By giving your card without being asked for shows that you have an arrogant personality, which is something that you don't want people to remember you as.

One of the most important skills involves building up your network, which may eventually end with you having some of them as leads. Do take note of your own actions during your conversations, sometimes you might be caught up in your own world about what you are expecting to do, ending up neglecting your audience in the conversation.

Time is of the essence when you are in a convention with a large crowd. During this time you should try to get information from your fellow attendees but try not to sound like you are trying to dig information. Try to steer the topic towards a conversation that allows you to understand your contacts' real estate needs.

Taking down notes on your conversation is important, unless you are able to remember what you have talked about for every conversation during the whole event. But for most people, you are bound to forget some of the information you have gotten from your conversations.

The benefits of taking down notes right after a conversation is that it allows you to retain important information regarding this new contact. It would be the best if you could have the information retrieved from the conversations written down at the back of their business card. It makes an excellent reference system. It will impress them to know that you remember the conversation you had with them. It shows that you are sincere in what you have talked about during the conversation and have thought of them highly enough to remember what they said. In this way, you earn their trust and faith in you.

Always organize the leads that you have obtained through the seminars, otherwise it would become a problem if there are too many for you to look through after a few seminars. You will have a better memory on what sort of category they are in, thus saving you some time. Not all might be direct leads, sift them out into different categories, such as potential leads and people who might be able to provide you with information on new leads.

A basic rule that you should follow would to follow up, follow up and do even more following ups. Here's why: opportunities come and go, and time doesn't stop for you. When you are not following up potential leads, someone else might be doing it soon. It would be wise for you to build up relations with these leads as fast as possible. Strike while the iron's hot!

Start contacting with your leads through friendly emails or text messages. Try to get them to respond and keep in touch with you. If possible, try to meet up with them once in a while for coffee sessions or lunch. After that you can slowly approach them to ask if they are interested in receiving information on real estate issues. Through your approach, they might have a better impression of you and think of you whenever they have an issue regarding properties.

Do not just attend seminars just because you are required to, participate it because it is a good way to generate quality leads from. Active participation will allow you to interact with more people in the seminar. Try not to be overly enthusiastic with your conversations; you might leave a bad impression on others instead. These may seem like small matters, but the effects can turn out to be very different based on how much effort you put into approaching and maintaining contact with them.

These are only some of the methods that will allow you to expand your network and source for new leads. You can always think of more innovative ways in approaching your fellow attendees and gather new information. In any kind of profession, your character is very important when you interact with people. It usually decides whether one is interested in doing business with you.
